The latest kitchen trims and frames
Adding personalisation to a kitchen has become more popular than ever as homeowners strive to create a unique space. Decorative detail such as kitchen trims and frames is a great way to achieve personalisation and enhance cabinets and feature units. We uncover the latest kitchen trim designs and the new ‘picture frame’ for appliances.
New ‘picture frame’ for appliances
Our ‘picture frame’ is a new way to create a border around double or triple appliances. It provides a spectacular surround using different materials such as quartz and granite, which can also be matched to your worktops. LED lighting can be incorporated, recessed into the outer surround to illuminate ovens and highlight the detail in the frame. This works particularly well when your ovens are at eye level making them a focal point in the room.

Gold and brass inlays
Adding metallic accents to a kitchen is a great way to contrast dark tones and mix different materials. One way this can be done is by using gold or brass inlays to frame cabinets. These decorative strips offers a striking and elegant finish that can transform plain cabinets. It is also perfect to highlight a storage feature, such as this bar unit (as pictured).

Triple layer cornice
Kitchens commonly have cornices at the top of the cabinets, which can vary in design depending on the style of the kitchen. For example, in a contemporary kitchen you’ll often see straight cornices creating a minimalist finish, whereas ornate mouldings are preferred for a classic design. The colour of the cornice also tends to match the cabinet colour for a seamless finish. This however is changing with options to make cornices more aesthetically interesting. Triple layer cornices are becoming popular in kitchen design and provide a way of introducing a new material to the centre layer. Burnished copper (as pictured) provides a stunning effect to the top of the cabinets and breaks up the design. Other materials that can be used include brushed steel, Macassar striped accents and black and white Zebrano detail.

Triple tier frame
Similar to a triple layer cornice, a triple tier frame provides an opportunity to add a different material to its inner layer, or a material that matches with another in the room. The centre trim is recessed to emphasise the tiers and create a 3D-like effect. It combines the function of a cornice and pillars to act as a frame around a run of cabinets or singular unit.
Wooden panel frame
For cabinets that have wall space above them there is an opportunity to utilise the area. Wooden panelling has become popular in kitchen design for cabinet and room doors however it has also been introduced to help frame kitchens. This kitchen (pictured) shows how it has been used to frame the cabinets and connect with a wooden panelled wall leading out from the kitchen.
