The Brief
The owners of this renovated old mill, wanted to create a kitchen design which took advantage of the scenic location. In particular, they wanted to make a feature of the impressive corner window providing a stunning view over the idyllic environment. The view would also provide inspiration for the interior, with their choice of colours reflecting the vibrancy of the dawn of spring.
The Solution
For the furniture, Stoneham’s Bewl collection was utilised alongside our Edwardian range for uncluttered style and traditional lines. With this minimalist look to the furniture, colour choice was key, with the couple opting for a completely bespoke and unique palette. Chalk Blue was used for the cabinetry alongside Farrow & Ball Pitch Blue on the centrepiece island, perfectly capturing their love for the blue skies of spring.
In addition to the pale, spring-inspired blues, white Caesarstone worktops were used on both the kitchen island and the counters, further complementing the room’s bright colour scheme. Attached to one end of the island is a waney edged timber table, providing pleasant seating where the family can relax and socialise during mealtimes. The timber also complements the New Oak finishes used elsewhere in the kitchen, offering a natural look which, again, reflects the inspiration taken from their love for spring. The appearance is beautifully completed using antique silver handles and Sensio DuoFlex lighting to create a bright, warm-feeling design. Additionally, plenty of natural light is provided by the standout corner window which plays a vital role in the kitchen’s overall design. Visible from all angles, the stunning views can be enjoyed from anywhere in the room.
The inclusion of some innovative technology provides the kitchen with seamless multi-functionality, making it the ideal space for cooking, dining, working and entertaining guests. All the couple’s cooking needs are well and truly met – the design includes the main Neff oven as well as a Combi Microwave oven, which work excellently alongside the Bora hob built into the kitchen island. This variety of appliances means multiple dishes can be cooked at once, perfect when catering for a large number of guests. The Quooker tap, offering instant boiling water, makes the process of catering even simpler. Built into one of the counters is a sleek wine chiller, offering additional drinks storage for when the couple want to enjoy an evening tipple, or if they’re making the most of their amazing environment by hosting a spring garden party.
