Understated kitchen with luxury bespoke bar area
Having modernised their house to incorporate a front and back extension, as well as a loft conversion, the owners of this impressive property also wanted to upgrade their kitchen. While they wanted a new design which was aesthetically pleasing, functionality was key as they desired a space which could accommodate both themselves and their young children. When they’re not preoccupied with busy family life, they love entertaining guests, something which was also taken into consideration when planning their dream kitchen.
The owners opted for our Pitch range throughout their design for its beautifully understated style. Given the minimalist look, it was essential that the symmetry of the cabinetry worked with the size of the room. A run of tall units was extended, with a wall moved to allow for this. Painted in a sophisticated light grey, these units incorporate a stunning double door spice pantry and a narrow cupboard featuring a space tower which offers plenty of easily accessible storage. Another section of the unit includes a secret door that opens into a utility room with access to the exterior of the property.
The centre of the open plan space is occupied by a grand central island painted in an elegant dark blue, in contrast to the grey furniture in the kitchen. Providing extra storage and seating with contemporary black stools, the island is crowned with a luxurious white Karma Imperial worktop which works perfectly with the stylish fluted pendant lights above.
Away from the island is one of the clients’ favourite features of their new kitchen – a bespoke bar area. As well as featuring plenty of shelves for displaying their collection of glasses and drinks, it also incorporates pocket doors that slide away, and hidden fridges for keeping bottles chilled whatever the occasion. Incredibly, the eye-catching zebra print worktop was recycled but doesn’t compromise on quality, providing the bar area with an extra touch of luxury.
In addition to capturing their desired aesthetic, the owners also wanted a functional design and incorporated a number of modern kitchen appliances in order to achieve this. Built into the island is a sleek Bora Pure hob with a downdraft extractor, and a pair of Siemens studioLine ovens in the tall unit opposite. This creates a flowing design which allows for easy movement between the two areas when cooking.
The sink features a Quooker Cube tap in matte black to complement the dark mirrored surface on the wall behind and black handles used throughout the kitchen. With the option of instant boiling, chilled or even sparkling water, the owners can quickly perform a variety of functions from a single tap, making life that little bit easier when they have young children to keep an eye on.
