New build kitchen with island and gold accents

Surrey

The brief:
The owners of a large new build home in Chipstead, Surrey wanted an open plan kitchen with an island that would accommodate the whole family. As the kitchen was being installed into a new detached property it was important that the room felt homely and welcoming. The owners also wanted to ensure there was plenty of storage and the latest appliances for a functional and stylish design.

The solution:
The couple approached Stoneham retailer RDO Kitchen Studio who designed a space that perfectly matched their criteria. For the furniture Stoneham’s Cudham range was chosen with its framed doors and subtle moulded detail to add character to the room. The doors were also finished in a whitish-grey tone for a soft and neutral colour palette that would help create the homely feel the family desired.

The neutral colour palette continues onto the large kitchen island in a greige shade that takes centre stage in the kitchen. This is finished with a white Quartz worktop with plenty of surface space for cooking. A Franke sink is also located on the island along with a stunning patinated brass Quooker Fusion Tap providing a touch of luxury. For storage, plenty of cupboards are incorporated into the island, in addition to a wine cooler perfect for entertaining and walnut pull-out trays that slot into the island. Black velvet stools with gold detailing were chosen to add a comfy seating area for the family to socialise and dine.

Opposite the island is an impressive Falcon range cooker which sits between the chimney breast. The canopy above the hob conceals the extractor hood while on either side of the cooker are recessed walnut open shelves. The wooden shelves provide a warming addition to the design and functional space for the owners to quickly access oils and seasoning while cooking. To further enhance this area, a stunning antique bronze mirror splashback was installed capturing the room’s colours, as well as two gold and glass cylinder feature lights that hang over the island.

For storage, the kitchen has an abundance of cabinets including tall units that utilise the full height of the walls. A large Fisher and Paykel fridge freezer is nestled between the cabinets. The kitchen is finished with brass handles on the doors and Sensio strip lighting underneath the cabinets to illuminate the worksurface.
