Modern handleless kitchen diner with bi-fold doors

Beckenham, Kent

The brief:

Based in Beckenham, Mr. & Mrs. Lipscombe wanted to renovate the kitchen of their 1930’s detached house. They were looking to combine their existing kitchen and dining room to create an open-plan, vibrant space. Both culinary enthusiasts, the Lipscombes were looking for a design which established specific zones for cooking, relaxing and dining, incorporating contemporary style and the latest technology.

The solution:

The Lipscombes sought out Stoneham Kitchens to bring their ideas to reality. To achieve the large, open-plan space they’d imagined of, a dividing wall was knocked through and expansive skylight installed, with bi-fold doors opening out onto the garden. With natural light flooding into the room, the result is a bright and airy open space which serves as the ideal setting to cook and dine.

The Lipscombes chose Stoneham’s Flow range in Dove Grey for its smooth lines and uncluttered simplicity, fitting the brief for a modern and stylish kitchen perfectly. Complementing the cabinets is a grey Anthracite Oak island, giving the kitchen subtle warmth and understated luxury. Fitted with Princess White granite composite worktops, the kitchen island features a flush-fitted extra wide induction hob, retractable downdraft extractor and pop-up plug and USB sockets for a seamless aesthetic. With these appliances neatly stored away, the island provides the perfect spot for chatting, eating and drinking, or watching their new 55 inch 4K LED TV mounted on a swiveling bracket in the dining area.

As keen cooks, the Lipscombes chose the latest appliances and gadgets to make the most of their new kitchen. A Siemens ‘quad oven arrangement’ was installed, made up of two standard single ovens, a single oven with microwave and a steam oven. Additional features include warming drawers, integrated dishwasher with soft touch opening, two integrated fridges a larder fridge plus a smaller one just for drinks. Quooker Pro3 tap provides boiling water for an instant brew.

Complete with underfloor heating, the large marble floor tiles extend into the dining space, creating a cohesive and smooth transition between the two areas. With handle-less cabinets and smooth, smart lines featuring throughout, the overall look is enhanced by innovative remote controlled LED lights, which transitions from cool to warm white to alter the ambience at the touch of a button.
