The brief:
The owners of a large, detached property in Keston, Kent were looking to update their kitchen to match the impressive interiors throughout their home. They wanted a space that was visually striking, equipped with high-spec appliances and ample storage, and featured a generous island with family seating.
The solution:
Impressed by the quality of their existing Stoneham kitchen, the couple returned to the company’s Kent showroom to discuss their new project. The design team also worked closely with the couple’s interior designer to refine key details and ensure the new kitchen blended seamlessly with the rest of the house.
The kitchen was planned around two focal areas: a main run of cabinetry along one wall and a large island opposite. For the wall units, Stoneham’s Cudham range was chosen for its contemporary framed doors, which were finished in a smooth, soft-neutral Cashmere. The lower cabinets beneath the sink area and the kitchen island are finished in greige oak, adding natural grain and textural contrast to the design.
Along the wall run, the sink sits beneath a beautifully crafted arch that adds architectural interest. Within the arch, a single greige oak shelf provides space for small decorative items, set against a luxurious volcano quartz splashback with intricate veining that brings visual appeal and elegance to the room.
Either side of the sink are bespoke bi-fold countertop storage cabinets that neatly conceal a variety of items. On one side, the unit provides space for small appliances, including a Siemens microwave and toaster, while the other side houses the owner’s coffee machine and various storage jars.
The expansive 4.6metre island offers ample storage, featuring a wooden cutlery drawer and a slim pull-out unit for cooking essentials such as spices and oils. The volcano-quartz splashback is also used for the worktop, which extends to the floor at one end to create a striking waterfall effect. The generous stretch of worktop showcases the stone’s beautiful pattern, allowing it to be fully appreciated in the room.
The island also features a breakfast bar with six seats for the family to enjoy meals, along with a glass of chilled wine from the single Kaelo wine cooler integrated into the worktop. A Novy Panorama induction hob with rising extraction is also fitted into the island, allowing the space to be used for cooking, socialising, and enjoying views of the garden.
Further appliances include a Quooker hot-water tap with a CUBE system, offering a choice of chilled, still, and sparkling water, along with Siemens studioLine ovens and a fridge-freezer, completing the owner’s selection of high-spec appliances.
Close to the kitchen is a new boot room designed with Stoneham’s Inscribe range in Espresso Oak. This practical space provides versatile storage for school bags, coats, and footwear. It also features a cushioned bench seat with hidden storage beneath and grooved panelling behind, illuminated by LED strip lights. These lights are echoed in the kitchen to highlight the worktops.

The kitchen is a harmonious blend of luxury and functionality, showcasing Stoneham’s craftsmanship through elegant cabinetry, premium appliances, and thoughtful design details. Anchored by a striking oak island with waterfall quartz and family seating, the space delivers on the owners’ vision for a modern, high-spec hub that complements their home’s refined interiors.
