The brief:
The owner of this large property, regularly went on holiday in magnificent hotels, and wanted to bring that element of luxury into her own residence. While this love for luxury hotels provided much of the inspiration, the owner also desired a homely feel which would be achieved by making a large, luxury kitchen space appear understated and cosy.
The solution:
Stoneham’s Fusion furniture range was utilised throughout the kitchen design, offering elegant smooth surfaces with handleless drawers and cabinets for a sleek finish. In contrast to the light Dove Grey cabinetry, darker tones of walnut from our Vibe range were also incorporated into the kitchen, offering a natural element to create the cosy, homely feel the owner requested. To meet the desire for luxury, leathered Super White granite was installed around the sink, drinks area and on the impressive central island, making use of its stunning veins and unique patterns. The expansive island features a variety of levels, offering dedicated spaces for better organisation when preparing and presenting meals. The backlit alcove utilises horizontal strips of warm white Sensio DuoFlex lighting, further contributing to the welcoming feel of this luxury kitchen.
The latest kitchen technology was also included throughout the design, providing excellent functionality alongside beautiful looks. The Quooker Flex tap offers instant boiling water and a flexible pull-out hose. A pair of Miele ovens ensure all the client’s cooking needs are met, while two warming drawers ensure plates are kept at the optimum temperature for serving hot food. The built-in chiller is a standout feature of the dedicated drinks area, offering plenty of extra storage for a wine collection to be enjoyed with family and friends. The luxury kitchen island and large dining table offer a mix of seating areas for relaxing or working, while a bespoke charging drawer means electrical devices are kept powering on and messy wires are cleverly hidden.
Drastic changes were also made elsewhere in the house. Upon entering from outside you step into what used to be the utility room. Now incorporating another sink, pegs for coat storage and a long bench for footwear, the space offers more functionality than before. The bench is lined with rubber matting and will be topped with an upholstered cushion so that the family have a comfortable place to sit while putting on and removing their shoes. With remote working now becoming more of a norm, it was also key that an office space was included in the design. Much like the kitchen, the clients desired a style which was quietly opulent, but also minimal and understated. This was achieved by using warm, dim strips of LED lighting on the underside of the shelving, creating a pleasant area to concentrate on work. The low unit features bespoke printer storage, providing all the technology needed when working from home.
