Luxury dining room with dark wood interiors

The brief
The owner of a five-bed semi-detached house in Beckenham, Kent wanted to transform his old kitchen into a luxury dining room to reflect the look and feel of his favourite restaurant. The room needed to offer a fine dining experience with dark shades, storage and sociable dining space for family and guests. While access to the room needed to be somewhat open, the owner also wanted the option to have it closed off to create a restaurant atmosphere with a sense of privacy.
The solution
Stoneham retailer K&I Kitchens was appointed to design a space that was reminiscent of their favourite eating establishment. For the lower-level cabinetry, Stoneham’s Pitch range in espresso oak was chosen for its understated simplicity and subtle outer groove detailing. The shade of the doors compliments the dominant dark wood interiors seen throughout the room, including the Spekva wooden worktop and tabletop in Heart Ash Black which provides a luxurious finish.
The narrow wooden worktop acts as a shelf that runs above the lower-level cabinetry and connects with the table. LED strip lighting was also incorporated to this area to add a warm glow to the room. Further lighting includes four long tube pendant lights that hang above the table for the ideal atmosphere when dining.
For the high-level wall units, Stoneham’s Pitch range is fronted with beautiful antique mirror doors which reflect the room’s décor. Internal glass shelves were incorporated to house a collection of different sized tumblers and wine glasses – perfect for when the owner is serving drinks from his brass drinks trolley.
To create the intimate, private setting the owner desired, the large archway entrances are adorned with full length dark curtains which separate the room from the rest of the house.
The simplicity of colours and sophisticated style, teamed with warm illumination from the clever use of lighting resulted in a luxury space that creates the fine dining experience the owner wanted to achieve.
