Deep green kitchen with warm metallic accents

Bristol

The brief:
Having downsized into their forever home – a Georgian Grade II listed property in Bristol, the owners set about transforming the space, which included the kitchen. They wanted a design that would sit harmoniously within the home’s grand proportions, working alongside its original features, such as the high ceilings and ornate cornicing, but also incorporate some modern touches. The couple’s list of ‘must-haves’ included shaker-style cabinetry, an ice dispenser, and a sink with drainer grooves around it to help prevent water spillage.

The solution:
Having been a previous customer of Stoneham retailer Angel Interiors, the couple were impressed with the experience and therefore had no hesitation in turning to them again for their kitchen design. They chose Stoneham’s Knole in-frame range for its timeless, classic door style and opted for Studio Green, a rich deep shade that adds a sense of luxury. To complement the green, a black quartz worktop with gold veining detail brings drama and elegance, enhancing the bold feel of the overall design.

Storage was carefully considered to keep surfaces uncluttered while still allowing space for the couple to display decorative items such as books, plants and artwork. This includes a large kitchen island which provides seating for four, a Neff induction hob with downdraft extractor, large pan drawers and an integrated Wolf freezer drawer complete with an ice maker to meet one of the couple’s key requests.

Opposite the island is a run of cabinetry that fits perfectly between two doors. Central to the unit is Stoneham’s impressive picture frame feature in brushed copper, enhanced by statement surround mood lighting that illuminates two Neff ovens. This standout piece offers a modern addition to the design which contrasts beautifully with traditional elements in the room. Further to this, the unit also conceals a compact pantry cupboard with a walnut interior, with shelving and space to store a kettle and other hot drink essentials. There is also a rack mounted on the door providing storage for jars and bottles.

A low run of cabinetry spans another wall, housing the sink. Draining grooves have been carved into the worktop, allowing water to channel back into the sink, one of the couple’s must-have features. Among the cabinetry is a bespoke pull-out walnut tray feature that enhances the green cabinetry and echoes the warm tone of the wooden flooring.

This area features two alcoves. In one, the worktop has been narrowed to make space for custom open shelving, helping to maximise floor area and improve access to a handy walk-in pantry. Inside, rows of open shelves provide ample storage for a wide range of food items.

To complete the kitchen, a combination of extra-large brushed brass handles, smaller brass handles, and knobs adorn the cabinet doors. A statement gold pendant light with fluted glass, suspended from a ceiling rose above the island, adds instant visual impact and ties in with the warm metallic accents throughout.

The result:
Rich, refined and full of character, this kitchen works perfectly within the Georgian home. The deep green cabinetry, elegant metallic accents, and warm wood create a cohesive and considered design that honours the property’s heritage while introducing modern functionality. Every detail, from the statement lighting and integrated appliances to the bespoke storage solutions, has been thoughtfully chosen to meet the couple’s needs without compromising on style. The result is a stunning space that feels luxurious and inviting, a true heart of the home.
