Contemporary two-tone kitchen with oven feature

The brief:
The owners of a modern property in Surrey wanted a kitchen that reflected the architectural style of their home while supporting both everyday living and entertaining. They were looking for a contemporary space with generous storage and a clean, minimalist aesthetic, yet one that still delivered a strong visual impact.

The solution:
The couple visited the Stoneham showroom in Kent in search of a design that would reflect both their home’s architecture and their lifestyle. To achieve the clean, minimalist aesthetic they wanted, two handleless ranges were selected: Fusion in Cashmere and Ligna in dark Cassella wood, creating a sophisticated two-tone scheme. A long run of full-height cabinetry in the dark wood was introduced to form a strong, cohesive backdrop for a standout feature – a triple-oven picture frame.

This feature frame was crafted in Volcano quartz to match the kitchen worktops. Integrated lighting surrounds the Miele ovens, enhancing the room’s striking focal point, while adding depth to the overall design.

The full-height cabinetry also conceals a bespoke breakfast pantry with pocket doors that slide neatly out of sight, helping to maintain the minimalist and spacious feel of the design. The pantry incorporates drawers and shelving to neatly organise small appliances, along with the couple’s breakfast and hot drink essentials.

Integrated LED lighting enhances visibility within the pantry and continues along the run of tall cabinetry, subtly defining the breakfast pantry and distinguishing it from a neighbouring bi-fold countertop unit that conceals glassware.

To meet the couple’s entertaining needs, a statement island provides the ideal setting for both family life and social gatherings. The island is finished with a waterfall worktop, beautifully showcasing the veining of the Volcano quartz. Generous storage is seamlessly integrated alongside a breakfast bar with seating, while a sleek, centrally positioned vented induction hob allows the host to cook while remaining part of any conversation.

Positioned close to the island and purposefully placed opposite the couple’s dining table, a bespoke bar area creates a natural extension of the entertaining space. This feature incorporates cabinetry to store bar essentials, alongside a Caple wine cooler, decorative pillars, pull-out chopping boards and worktop space.

Most striking, however, is an illuminated feature panel set behind open shelving, where spirit bottles are displayed. The panel’s gold and brown veining create an ambient glow, adding warmth and a sense of luxury, particularly in the evening.

The result:
Designed equally for everyday living and entertaining, the finished kitchen functions as the social heart of the home. The space feels open, organised and effortlessly modern, while delivering the bold visual impact the couple had envisioned from the outset.
