The brief:
The owners of a new build, five bed detached home in Essex were regular visitors to Grand Design Live show where they first came across Stoneham Kitchens. Inspired by a kitchen on display at the exhibition the couple wanted a similar design in their own house – both for its practical elements and also for its visual impact.
The solution:
The kitchen was a fusion of materials and colour for a contemporary, aesthetically striking space. Two of Stoneham ranges; Fusion in Dove Grey and Mode in Anthracite Oak were chosen to contrast with each other to create different moods. The alluring appear of the Anthracite oak adds warmth and a dramatic feel to tall mirrored cabinets that surround the Siemen ovens. The material was also used for the sweeping, teardrop shaped Kitchen Island that is a focal point in the room.
To offset the richness of the wood, curved Fusion cabinets in Dove Grey, a light dusty tone was incorporated on the back cabinets to separate the space. For the worktops the owners opted for a 30mm Quartz in white, which was replicated on the kitchen island to provide a clean, sleek finish. For a pop of colour a 6mm aubergine glass breakfast bar features on the kitchen island creating a designated area for dining. Glass splashbacks in the same aubergine, dark berry tone offer a striking visual impact and touch of sophistication to the overall design.
For the smaller features, long bridge chrome handles were used throughout – another example of merging different materials. And for the lighting, cool white LED lights were a must, however the favourite part of the customer’s design was the LED lit triple layer back panel that brightens the space and offers a truly distinctive style.
