Scandi-style inspired wooden kitchen with copper lights

The brief:
Mr and Mrs Jeffrey were keen to create a bold kitchen bursting with character and interesting materials and textures to complement the rest of their contemporary new build home in Greenwich. With an amazing area to work with, it was essential for the homeowners to create a space that integrated well with the rest of the downstairs. The Jeffreys also wanted the kitchen to be well stocked with cutting-edge technologies to make it a truly hardworking and practical kitchen.

The solution:
Stoneham’s Walnut Ambience Pro was chosen for the cabinetry, drawers and perimeters due to its smoothness and scope for handsome, crown cut veneer finishes. The rich lustrous brown tones of Ambience were the perfect choice to blend with clean, white Fusion Pro and Corian work surfaces in Glacier White, which offer a sleek, striking contrast to the traditional warmth of the timber. Spotlights frame the preparation area across the fly-over shelves, matched with LED lights that sit underneath the worktop edging.

An abundance of state-of-the-art appliances were added throughout the kitchen, including a Siemens oven, microwave and warming drawer, all incorporated into the cabinets with the use of stunning inlaid veneers. An induction hob combined with a telescopic extractor hood provides a stylish, safe and energy-efficient cooking area.

The centre piece, a fabulous, multi-functional island with extended breakfast bar, also features inlaid veneers in Ebony Macassar, matching the pillars and cornice. In the dining area, curved veneer doors soften the appearance, avoiding a hard and angular look. A glass overlay fringes the breakfast bar, creating a designated zone for eating and showcasing another contrasting material that adds to the overall contemporary design of the kitchen. With handleless access for doors and drawers across the whole kitchen, a seamless, minimalist look is achieved, using a mixture of contemporary and traditional materials.
