Stoneham retailer Kitchens by Avantgarde had initially been entrusted to deliver the perfect kitchen for a couple in South Wales, however after the successful transformation of this space including hidden rooms and an unconventional home bar, the retailer was then asked to help design furniture for rooms upstairs, including the master bedroom and study.
Master bedroom
For the bedroom, the couple wanted a modern feel and to add a warm ambience to the very light room. Stoneham’s Fahrenheit range was chosen in a dark sepia oak to help achieve this mood. The range was used to create tall built-in cupboards and a centre island in the dressing area. The island provides a place for folding, packing and organising clothes with large drawers showing beautifully crafted dovetail joints. All the cupboards were divided between the couple so that the internal fixtures were tailored to the specific needs of owners taking into account the clothes and accessories they needed to store.
The bedroom also has a powder room, where the owner wanted her collection of designer handbags to be on display. A box style shelving system was installed complete with LED strip lights. Opposite this, and to finish the room is a tailored dressing table complete with drawers, shelving and a mirror attached to a sepia oak back panel.
The study
As one of the owners worked from home, the study had to be functional and timeless with areas to display personal items. The owner required something a little different to your average office, so like the rest of the house a colour was added to create a unique style.
Working within the constraints of the roof shape, a media unit with base cupboards was cleverly designed to fit one end of the room. The cupboards were built using a combination of Stoneham’s Pitch and Ambience ranges in walnut veneer and Bancha Green colour. The green is used in the lower cabinets to break up the walnut and to highlight the centre of the unit where a TV is located.
Further cabinets were installed around the room offering plenty of storage options with the Bancha Green used to define the desk area. All of which are finished off with a mix of small and large contemporary black loop handles.
Whilst this new-build renovation project started with just the kitchen, the owners were keen to extend the high-quality of Stoneham furniture throughout their home. The bold colour choices, bespoke features and personal touches make this home truly unique.
