The much anticipated Colour of the Year has been announced by Pantone as Cloud Dancer, a white neutral. This has come as a surprise to many, with predictions hinting at greens and teal as the likely shade for 2026. The colour institute have described Cloud Dancer as a “lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence… imbued with serenity,” which “encourages true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation.” In kitchen design, neutral shades like Cloud Dancer are perfect for creating a soothing and warm environment that never dates.

Versatility
Cloud Dancer offers the perfect base to combine with other shades, including soft neutrals, pastels, and even bolder tones for contrast. Pantone emphasises pairing Cloud Dancer with powdered pastels that offer “subtle shifts in hue that are nuanced, pleasing, and understated.” When incorporating a neutral tone in kitchens, the use of wood is a great way to introduce texture and warmth, helping to keep the space from feeling cold.
