Stoneham Kitchens Commercial Director, Eddie Chu, will retire at the end of September 2025. Since joining the luxury kitchen manufacturers in 2001, Eddie has played an integral role in its growth and development.

Eddie began his career in industry at just 18, working as a buyer and product developer for a kitchen and bedroom furniture company. His experience soon attracted offers from well-known homeware brands, which Eddie politely declined. But when Stoneham Kitchens approached him, he knew it was the perfect fit.

“I always remember when Stoneham approached me, they really took the time to get to know me. There wasn’t even a job opening,” Eddie recalls. “They created a role for me, which meant a lot.”

Managing Director, Adrian Stoneham, adds, “I warmed to his character and passion straight away.”

Eddie’s early role focused on purchasing and sourcing new materials for development and product design before becoming Commercial Director. Over the years, he has overseen procurement, driven product development, led training programmes and worked closely with customers to achieve the best outcomes.

“Eddie has been an incredible ambassador for Stoneham,” says Adrian. “His depth of technical knowledge and ‘can do’ attitude have had a most positive effect on our business and customers for many years. Having worked very closely with him, I consider him a most valued colleague and friend. His energy, cheery nature, and engaging personality are recognised by everyone who meets him. And, of course, his unique take on the English phonetic alphabet has often been a great source of entertainment!”

Reflecting on his time at Stoneham, Eddie says: “It has been a fantastic 24 years. Every day has brought something new and challenging, which has made the role stimulating and rewarding. I will truly miss my colleagues and our long-standing suppliers.”

Looking ahead, Eddie already has plans for his retirement, including learning Spanish, upcycling, gardening, and painting. He and his wife also intend to travel to Dubai and Los Angeles where their sons live.

Eddie’s successor will be Adrian Field, who is currently Sales Officer Manager.
