Must have kitchen features for a new kitchen
When choosing features for your new kitchen, it is easy to feel overwhelmed with the choices available. What you decide will ultimately depend on your room size and layout, and what you consider to be essential to make your kitchen work for you. To help you with your kitchen plans, we have created a list of must have kitchen features for a new kitchen based on the designs we have delivered for our customers.
The multipurpose island
Kitchen islands have become a staple amongst our customers, especially for open plan living. However, even if you have a small kitchen or a large space, islands come in various shapes and sizes to suit most rooms. If you are looking for extra storage and worktop space, islands provide that. You can also incorporate pop-up sockets for connecting various household devices, like blenders, and a Kaelo single wine cooler inset into the worktops. Furthermore, when combined with a breakfast bar or beautiful booth seating they not only function as a cooking and food prep area, but also a place where you can relax, dine and socialise.
Pantry storage
A pantry cupboard can often expand from the floor to the ceiling making it a great way to organise lots of food items in a clever way. For instance, if you have an abundance of spice jars, then a spice rack built onto the door is ideal. You can also incorporate drawers to hide away certain foods and add shelving for quick access to tins and breakfast items. Adding internal LED lighting is a great way to enhance visibility of your goods.
The pantry cupboard can also be designed with space to conceal small electrical items such as toasters and coffee makers, helping to keep your worktops free from clutter. Finish with pocket doors that slide neatly out of sight to keep your walkway clear when your pantry is open. With so many options available it is no wonder that the pantry cupboard has become a highly desirable kitchen feature.

Bars for the entertainer
When designing kitchens for customers, one of the main requests we get asked is for a kitchen that can accommodate entertaining. This will often encompass more seating options, but will always include a type of bar, such as a pantry bar or built-in bar. A pantry bar for instance can be hidden by doors and opened up when your guests arrive. These will often include wine coolers, shelves for displaying glasses and spirit bottles, as well as worktop space to pour your drinks. So, if you love to entertain then don’t forget to add a bar to your must-have kitchen list.

Two-in-one hob
There are many options when choosing an extractor fan such as those built into wall units, chimney canopies and even ceilings. However, there is now a stylish alternative. An induction hob with built in downdraft extraction, with the choice of ducted or recirculating extraction methods provides a minimal finish perfect for kitchen islands. Our customers particularly like the fact they are getting two products in one, which not only delivers on functionality but also looks sleek and stylish.

Instant hot water tap
Nearly every kitchen we complete has been fitted with a three-in-one tap from Quooker. Why? Because these taps allow you to dispense cold, hot and boiling water instantly from one tap. This means there is no need for you to wait for your kettle to boil. Not only is this more energy efficient but you can also ditch your kettle to free up more space on your worktops. Additionally, you also have the option of chilled sparkling water when you combine a Quooker tap with their CUBE. Choose from different finishes to match the hardware in your design.

Spice organisation
Most of our customers love to cook, which usually means they have stacks of herbs and spice jars. When preparing meals, finding the right spices and herbs can prove tricky when you have so many. Sound familiar? A great solution to this dilemma is a dedicated spice drawer which is growing in popularity, allowing you to display rows of these small jars so you can easily spot what you are looking for. Alternatively, a spice rack on a pantry cupboard is another option to organise your herbs and spices.
