Halloween cocktails that pack a punch
If you are planning on hosting a Halloween gathering this October, why not shake things up with some scarily delicious cocktails to offer your guests? Not for the faint hearted, these strong concoctions literally add the boo in booze, so drink carefully. We’ve also thrown in one recipe for the kids so they can enjoy their own spooky punch.
Here are our Halloween cocktails that will go down a scream…
Black Magic Margarita
For a dark and mysterious tipple, this tequila-based cocktail is a must. The colour is created using food colouring, while its strength (alcohol that is) comes from a combination of silver tequila and triple sec. The glass is topped off with black sanding sugar and lime to help it stick.

Bloody Mule Cocktail
A slightly tweaked version of a classic Moscow Mule (vodka and ginger beer), this cocktail has the addition of crème de cassis to create the blood effect running through it. You can also make the drink ahead of time and add the crème de cassis when your guests arrive for some blood drenching entertainment.

Purple rain
This colourful cocktail has a distinctive deep purple hue that is perfect for Halloween. Combine blue curacao with grenadine to create the colour and then mix with vodka, lime juice and lemonade to create a taste that’s to die for!

Red Rum
We all know what red rum spelt backwards says, so make (and drink) this cocktail with caution! This drink is dominated by gold rum and mixed with cherry juice, lime juice, syrup and soda water to give your guests a sweet chill. For added drama, use dry ice to create some spooky smoke.

The dead gringo
This creamy cocktail tastes like a dessert but with the additional benefit of coffee tequila to keep you and your guests partying till late. This simple recipe includes coffee tequila and milk, plus a glass full of ice. To finish, decorate your glass with spooky spiders, just because you can.

Halloween punch (for the kids)
This Halloween punch is so simple to put together and comes complete with sweets. While the drink itself is just cranberry and lemonade, it’s the decoration that turns it into a spooktacular drink your kids will love, with jelly snakes draped around the glass and clementines cut to resemble mini pumpkins.
