Fluted glass and ribbed doors are a growing feature in kitchen design creating a rippled effect to cabinets. Both decorative options add texture and interest in a kitchen while fluted glass also obscures the items behind. Grooved wooden panels can also be used to add beautiful lines and a contemporary focal area. We take a look at how you can incorporate these stylish features into your kitchen.

Fluted glass
Fluted glazing is ideal for higher cabinets and works wonders in creating interest in between doors to break up a design. With its distinct vertical rippled effect, its finish not only looks elegant but also provides privacy to anything that is stored behind it. Another notable benefit of using this glass is that it can add light to a room, which is particularly handy if you opt for darker-coloured cabinets. You can also incorporate fluted glass into doors that lead to another room such as a utility or dining room to create a statement door.

Ribbed doors
The undulating nature of ribbed doors can elevate a kitchen design with its distinctive texture.  It can be used on cabinet doors or feature panels to create a visual contrast in a room. Choose a colour that coordinates with the rest of your cabinets for a subtle modern finish or a completely different shade to really accentuate your design. For the brave, create the ripple effect throughout your kitchen or keep it simple with a select few cabinets, or feature this sculptural aesthetic on your kitchen island.

Wooden fluted panels
Wooden panels add warmth and texture to a kitchen. These slat panels are a stylish addition to any kitchen and can act as a piece of art. Team with other materials for contrast and visual impact on either cabinet doors, wrapped around an island or used on room doors and borders (as shown in the image below) to emphasise a focal point in the kitchen.
