Kitchen trends 2023

As we are edging towards 2023, now is the perfect time to look at what is hot in kitchen design for the new year.  From pet-friendly solutions to the latest materials and new shades, we cover the trends that are becoming popular, including some secret features…that won’t be a secret for much longer! If you are thinking of a new kitchen, then read on to find out what the kitchen trends 2023 are that could make a difference to your kitchen wish list.

Ceiling high cabinets with bi-fold doors
Have you ever piled items on top of your cabinets for them to just gather dust? The latest tall cabinets that utilise the full height of your room leave no place for dust, while ensuring you have plenty of storage space for extra items. Vertical bi-fold doors will be a popular choice to front these high cabinets. They glide to one side allowing quick access to wide, tall units.

The dark side
Next year we will see darker shades gaining in popularity. Dark blue has been particularly dominant for the past two years, however we will see more demand for chic black with undertones of red and blue, as well as dark greens including olive and bottle green. Our Diffuse range includes new shades; Black, Fir Green and Reed Green, all with fingerprint resistant finishes that echoes this bold colour trend. While these colours can add drama to a room, they can easily be toned down when paired with softer shades of pink or grey.

The secret ‘EVERYDAYSAFE’
Concealing items in the kitchen has become commonplace, creating a minimalist, uncluttered look. This concealment continues with a hidden safe integrated in your kitchen, as either a visible drawer or an internal drawer. This smart innovation can only be accessed via a fingerprint scanner or smartphone app which opens the safe in seconds. It also uses Faraday protection which shields car keys and credit cards from remote scanning.  With car theft on the rise it provides a safe refuge for valuables to be hidden away from intruders inside or outside your property.  So, if you are worried about burglars entering your home, then this smart safe is a must-have for your kitchen wish-list for 2023.

The ‘Hidden’ door
Rather than a conventional internal door that leads to another room in your home, a hidden door provides an alternative option. This clever door design is gaining popularity. Why? Not only does it provide a cohesive and fluid design, in keeping with the style and look of the rest of your kitchen doors, but when you open it up it takes you to a completely different room in the house, whether a utility or children playroom. Genius!

Media walls
We often get asked for kitchens that cater for ‘entertainment’ and while bars have become a must-have for this type of kitchen, media walls are the latest feature to help create a zoned area for entertainment. With a media wall you can expect TV units on panelling to hide cables, plenty of storage options including cabinets built around the TV and feature shelving, as well as mood lighting. Media walls can be positioned facing a dining table or in a cosier area of an open-plan living space.

Pet friendly kitchens
Since lockdown pet ownership has increased sizeably, and this has led to a demand in pet friendly features in the kitchen, such as dog washes in utility rooms and built-in dog beds. This trend is set to continue into 2023. In response to this, Stoneham have introduced cabinetry that features dog or cat bowl storage ideal for food and accessories allowing you to keep bowls out of sight when not in use.
