Platinum Jubilee Street Party Recipes

Being proud Royal Warrant holders, we are overjoyed that this year Her Majesty the Queen will be celebrating her Platinum Jubilee. From the 2nd to the 5th June, the extended bank holiday will be filled with public events and activities to celebrate such a momentous occasion.  Whether you’re watching the Trooping the Colour parade and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant from home, or your community are coming together and hosting a street party, here are six recipes to get you ready to celebrate this royal weekend.

Mini sausage rolls
There’s nothing better than freshly baked, warm sausage rolls, which are always a big hit at parties. This recipe makes 36 mini rolls with a light puff pastry; however, you may want to think about doubling the recipe as they are so tasty they will be gone just as quickly as they were made!

Scotch eggs
If you like to think you know your way around a kitchen and want to impress your guests, then why not give yourself a real challenge with this cracking Scotch egg recipe by Jamie Oliver. With the option of a runny egg centre or hard boiled, this recipe will be well worth the effort when your guests take a bite.

Victoria sponge cake
The Victoria Sponge cake is notorious for its Royal British heritage. Named after Queen Victoria for being her cake of choice with her afternoon tea, it’s a classic and a much-loved cake by all. Filled with sweet raspberry jam it’s the perfect treat to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee!

Tea loaf
Made with tea-infused raisins and sultanas and served with a spread of butter, this English tea loaf is another traditional dish perfect for this patriotic bank holiday weekend. Just ensure you give yourself enough time to soak your dried fruits!

Mini pork pies
Another party favourite, these mini pork pies are ideal to cook ahead of time as they are suitable for freezing. With a sausage and bacon filling encased in a shortcrust pastry crust,  serve them alongside Piccalilli for that extra kick of flavour.
