Retailer Spotlight – Gardiner Haskins

We are excited to welcome a new kitchen retailer, Gardiner Haskins. We spoke to Senior Kitchen Manager, Richard Harris, and Assistant Kitchen Manager, Alec Yull, to learn more about the business and why they chose to work with Stoneham.

How long has Gardiner Haskins been a Stoneham retailer for?

We are just commencing our journey as an approved Stoneham retailer. We are looking forward to forging a long-lasting partnership with one of the UK’s most prestigious and long-established kitchen brands. Like Stoneham, we also have a history that dates back over 190 years and feel that becoming a Stoneham Appointed Kitchen Centre is a fantastic opportunity to make best use of our combined experience and expertise.

Why Stoneham?

Stoneham provide our business with unique, high-end, bespoke kitchens, offering our customers endless design options and unlimited colour choice.

The attention to detail, passion, and pride that Stoneham invest in every single kitchen is clear to see. We too pride ourselves on our passion for kitchens and are determined to exceed customer expectations throughout every stage, from concept to installation.

Which Stoneham ranges do you have on display in your showroom?

Our Bristol showroom is home to four large Stoneham kitchen displays, plus a door selection centre. Our displays include:

  • A large, shaped island from Stoneham’s Strata range in Anthracite Stained Oak & smooth painted Dove Grey.
  • An Edwardian bar area in smooth painted Thunder Grey, with oak veneering.
  • A large, classically designed display that combines three door styles, all in painted oak. The base units are from the Cudham range, featuring enhanced Grain, with a section which features Pitch. Both styles are finished in Farrow & Ball’s Carriage Green, while the wall units are from the Penshurst collection in Classic White.
  • Finally, we have a Stoneham Latitude display. This contemporary style blends the Inscribe, Touch and Fusion ranges. The colours used are Black TX and Abigail Ahern Craig & Rose Mulberry Red.

This designated Stoneham area is accompanied by the Stoneham door selector, which also showcases fogged oak columns.

What do customers love about Stoneham?

The feeling of quality and luxury when opening a cabinet. The attention to detail in every finish, coupled with the freedom to include a variety of bespoke elements to accommodate different tastes and styles. These options enable us to capture the imagination of any client.

What’s been your most memorable kitchen project?

We’re still new to Stoneham having only started our journey with them in 2020. Yet, despite disruption caused by recent lockdowns, we’ve still managed to design and install some beautiful kitchens.

A real highlight would be one we installed in a basement. The kitchen was from the Knole collection in Oak painted Moles Taupe & Ivory. It was a tricky project as we had to work around half height retaining walls. Given that Stoneham provide completely bespoke design solutions, we were able to comfortably overcome these challenges. As a result, the owner now has a beautiful kitchen which complements the rest of their home.

What’s your favourite kitchen innovation?

We love the drinks pantry with pocket doors, which forms part of our new Stoneham window display. This has an opulent feel of quality and individualism which our customers have really responded to. This display encompasses much of what makes Stoneham so unique. The bar pantry is accompanied by a Fisher and Paykel Wine cabinet and is framed with Stoneham’s decorative triple layer edging, which features their black & white zebrano inlays. The display has a wonderful feel of indulgence is a real standout feature of our showroom.

What is proving popular in kitchen design right now?

Simplicity of design. Our customers are seeking to create spaces which are practical, yet simple in appearance. As always, deep drawers and accessible storage are must have features. We are seeing the colour palette continue to evolve, with bright accent colours used more regularly. Despite this, darker shades are also becoming more popular than ever; our new Latitude display perfectly captures this look and provides a source of inspiration to many of our customers.

Do you have anything exciting planned for this year?

Gardiner Haskins are always looking forward and have spent lockdown periods designing and investing in four new Stoneham kitchen displays. We have numerous other display changes planned for the second half of 2021, with a particular focus on kitchen worktops.

Our aim is to ensure our showroom stays at the forefront of new design trends and provides all the inspiration our customers need to create their new kitchen.
