Sevenoaks School go behind the scenes at Stoneham

It was a great pleasure to recently welcome back Sevenoaks School Sixth Form students and Head of Technology, Rebecca Brown to Stoneham’s headquarters. The purpose of the visit was for students studying Design Technology to gain an insight into both the design and manufacturing processes carried out at Stoneham. To do this our Head of Design, Duncan Brown, led an interactive factory tour, encouraging students to ask questions in order to build their knowledge.

During the tour, students got to find out about different material processes, including the methods for solid timber and board materials.  CAD design and traditional design skills were addressed at length; all of which was extremely beneficial for their course education. In addition to this, students watched demonstrations of the latest machinery, including the Venture BMG 115 5-axis machine, emphasising the evolvement of technology in kitchen manufacturing.

“This visit was a great opportunity to educate the students on our manufacturing process, allowing them to go behind the scenes in the Stoneham factory,” Said Duncan. “The students posed interesting questions related to sustainability and design presentation, demonstrating a keen interest in design technology. We hope they benefited from this tour and enjoyed their experience at Stoneham.”

“We are extremely grateful to Stoneham Kitchens for allowing us to return to their factory. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt a lot from the Stoneham team,” Said Rebecca Brown.  “We hope to continue our relationship with Stoneham and give new students an opportunity to be inspired by kitchen manufacturing .”
