Valentine’s Day Recipes

For many, Valentine’s Day and a special meal go hand-in-hand, with fine wine, good food and a loved one making up the perfect recipe for a romantic rendezvous. After all, love may feed the soul, but you still need to feed the love!

This year, why not avoid the restaurant crowds and opt for an intimate, home cooked meal instead? Whether it’s dinner-for-two or a celebration of love with family and friends, whip up delicious delights in your own kitchen to impress loved ones with your culinary prowess.

Whether you’re an enthusiastic amateur or a budding MasterChef contestant, take inspiration from our favourite Valentine’s Day recipes below.

STARTERS
Start simple with this contemporary twist on a conventional starter; the classic combination of plump scallops with smoky bacon is given a modern makeover in this ‘Scallop Pop’ recipe. For something a little more exotic, try individual Crab & Saffron tarts; ready-to-roll shortcrust pastry and tinned crab meat makes this a surprisingly easy dish, whilst the small pinch of saffron adds a luxurious dimension of flavour. Bake in heart-shaped tins just for the occasion! More accomplished chefs could try their hand at the notoriously tricky cheese soufflé – the secret in this recipe is to bake it twice for a perfectly pillow-soft puff.

MAINS

Heart-shaped? Check. Romantically red? Check. Made with love? Check! Naturally coloured with beetroot juice, use heart-shaped cookies cutters to serve up a swoon-worthy main; Beetroot & Goat’s Cheese ravioli. For those that like their mains a little meatier, try a classic Chicken Milanese – its beauty lies in the simplicity of sweet tomato, fresh herbs and succulent chicken. Or, for a perfect pairing, looking no further than this Chargrilled Steak recipe – beef and beer are married together in holy ‘mustard-iony’ for a refreshing take on a steak main course.

DESSERTS
Get your Valentine’s Day fizz fix with these Raspberry & Champagne Possets. Delicately pink and decanted into elegant serving glasses, this strikingly simple recipe can be made the night before, and makes a cute couple when teamed with buttery shortbread. Or, opt for a pudding with passion, with a Tropical Fruit Pavlova – citrusy orange curd is muddled with passionfruit for an exotic finish to your feast. And of course, no Valentine’s Day dessert round-up would be complete without a decadently rich, chocolate-based offering and this Salted Caramel Nutella Tart ticks all the boxes; sweet, salty, sticky and sumptuous!
