Congratulations to the winners of the Kitchen of the Future and Stoneham Doodle Competitions!
This year’s Grand Designs Live show ended with a bang; on Sunday 11 May, the winners of the Stoneham art and design competitions were announced!
To celebrate Stoneham Kitchens’ 150th anniversary, pupils from schools in the London boroughs of Bexley and Bromley were invited to get creative and design a Stoneham Doodle, similar to a Google Doodle, and The Kitchen of the Future. There were lots and lots of fantastic entries, with designs incorporating everything and anything from the Union Jack to liquid chocolate!
“From robot chefs to integrated GM plants, spatulas to smoked hams, the entries to the competitions showed just how talented the pupils of Bromley and Bexley are,” explains Managing Director, Adrian Stoneham. “We loved each entry, and it was a pleasure to award prizes to the talented winners.”
The winners and runners up of each age category were invited to attend Grand Designs as Stoneham’s special guests, and the prize giving took place at the Stoneham stand. Adrian Stoneham, Mrs Lesley Burgess, Senior Lecturer in Art, Design & Museology Institute of Education, University of London and Sales Director, Howard Stoneham presented them with their prizes – an Amazon gift voucher, cheques for the schools and certificates decorated with each winning design.
Prize winners also each received a commemorative mug, featuring the winning Stoneham logo doodles.
“I think it’s so important that what goes on in school art and design departments doesn’t stay there, but enters the wider world of manufacturing and design,” says Lesley Burgess.
The ceremony made Grand Designs Live 2014 an event to remember. Take a look at the gallery to see pictures of the winners. You can see all the entries on the Stoneham Flickr Page.
